General Installation Steps:
- Unscrew the old oil filter and clean the mounting base.
- Make sure the old gasket is removed from the mounting base.
- Apply a thin coat of oil to the new filter gasket.
- Make sure the gasket is seated properly in the base of the filter.
- Screw the filter on until the gasket contacts the base.
- Tighten 1 to 1-1/4 turns. Do not exceed 1 to 1-1/4 turns.
- Use an acceptable oil filter wrench if necessary.
- Refill the crankcase, run the engine, and check for leaks.
- Check the oil level after running the engine.
Maintenance Note: Change your oil and filter at least once each year, or as recommended by your owner’s manual based on hours of use and operating conditions.
